Plan Change 1: Franz Josef Developments Limited
This privately requested plan change resulted in land north of Franz Josef/Waiau being rezoned from ‘residential’ to’ tourist’. Standards for permitted and discretionary activities and explanations relating to the area in Franz Josef Developments Ltd Outline Development Plan Part 5.4B are included in the Plan. The outline development plan for the area has been included in 5.4 Tourist Settlement Policy Unit. The plan change became operative on 14 February 2005.
Plan Change 2: Callery Holdings Limited
This privately requested plan change resulted in land 3km north of Franz Josef/Waiau being rezoned from ‘rural’ to ‘tourist’ and ‘residential’. A new method, environmental outcomes, rules, explanation/reason, information for a subdivision consent and assessment criteria relating to the Franz Alpine Resort have been included in the Plan. A section relating to the plan change area: Franz Alpine Resort, Stony Creek and an outline development plan have been included in the Plan. The plan change became operative on 14 February 2005.
Planning Map 14 Franz Josef Glacier Waiau has been amended.
The description (5.4.1) of 5.4 Tourist Settlement Policy Unit has been amended.
Plan Change 3: Westland District Council – Signs
Amendments to the standards for permitted, controlled and discretionary activities, explanations, definition of ‘signs’, policies and Appendices E and F, have been made for the provisions of signs in the ‘rural’ zone under this plan change. The plan change became operative on 3 November 2004.
Plan Change 4: Scenic Circle Hotels Limited
This privately requested plan change resulted in a small section of land immediately north of Franz Josef/Waiau being rezoned from ‘residential’ to ‘tourist’. Standards for permitted and discretionary activities, explanations, rules and a plan relating to the section have been included in the Plan. The plan change became operative on 25 February 2005.

Plan Change 5: Racecourse Terraces
This privately requested plan change resulted in land adjacent
to the Hokitika Racecourse being rezoned “Residential Mixed”
from “Rural”. Changes to the Plan principally involved the
Hokitika Policy Unit (Part 5.2) and included the addition of a
Racecourse Terraces Concept Plan. The Plan Change became
operative on 25 October 2007.

Plan Change 6: Westland District Council : Change to Franz
Josef Developments Limited Outline Development Plan
Plan Change 6 amended the Franz Josef Developments Limited
Outline Development Plan (Part 5.4B) by removing reference to
the “deferred development area”. The Plan Change has occurred
as a result of the satisfaction of a requirement of Plan Change
1 relating to an additional access to State Highway 6 at Franz
Josef/Waiau. Plan Change 6 became operative on 31 January 2008.
